Beloved TV and radio personalities, Instagram influencers, and chart topping musicians were among the more than 750 glamorous guests to embrace the return of the iconic White on Whitehaven Long Lunch at the weekend.

The who’s who of the Whitsunday social scene rubbed shoulders with former Bachelor Matthew Johnson, sporting legend Sam Thaiday, fashion icon Tash Sefton, and pop star sisters Amy and Emma Sheppard, as they enjoyed a sumptuous spread from Airlie Beach seafood restaurant Fish D’vine.

Mojitos, champagne, and freshly shucked oysters greeted guests as they touched down on the soft silica sands of the world’s most beautiful beach.

Whitsunday Coast Airport was buzzing with high profile arrivals in the lead up to the event, which was supported by Tourism and Events Queensland, with chartered flights from Brisbane transporting 160 attendees in style.

Tourism Whitsundays chief executive Tash Wheeler said the whole region would benefit from the “spectacular” success of the 2021 event.

“Events like White on Whitehaven play a significant role in driving repeat visitation to the region and help build awareness for the Whitsundays,” Ms Wheeler said.

Fish D’vine co-owner Kev Collins said the weekend “well and truly exceeded all his expectations,” and plans for 2022 event were already under way.

“Australian travellers have shown us once again they are hungry for world-class food experiences and the White on Whitehaven Long Lunch by Fish D’vine ticked all those boxes over the weekend with delicious fresh seafood in a stunning destination,” Mr Collins said.

“We live, work and play in such a vibrant and unique destination and the White on Whitehaven event hosted over 750 locals and visitors on the weekend, this wouldn’t have been possible without the help of 32 other local suppliers – talk about an amazing community,” he said.
