A young Queensland man has been thrown behind bars after horrific Facebook messages to his partner’s sister, and stealing the same car from the same place twice.

Magistrate Athol Kennedy summarised the offences of Taylor David Strange, 19, in the Bowen Magistrates Court with prosecutor sergeant Emma Myors and solicitor Cleo Rewald present.

Taylor David Strange was sentenced in Bowen Magistrates Court on June 4, 2024.
Taylor David Strange was sentenced in Bowen Magistrates Court on June 4, 2024.

On April 29, Strange sent menacing voice and video messages on Messenger to his girlfriend’s sister after 9pm, which included threats of rape and of killing her if she did not answer back.

Some of the messages sent included: “I’ll walk over to your house right now and fucking flow your flabby ass c--t, right now, with my mates,”

“I don’t care if your f--ing babies are there.

“I’m not trying to be f--ing rude, but if you’re not gonna fuc*ing text me back, then, that’s what it’s gonna have to be.”

Strange had also previously been convicted of arson, and crimes involving suffocation, the court heard. Those sentences are due to expire in March 2025.

“The question is, how do you control yourself in the future?” Mr Kennedy asked.

Strange was also involved in the theft of vehicle at a Bowen address, stolen from the same property on two occasions on March 31 and April 7.

After it was stolen the first time it was found five days later on Panorama Place. The vehicle’s owner drove it back home and parked a second car behind it.

On April 7, offenders including Strange came back, pushed the second car aside and stole it again using the keys.

The vehicle was located for the second time on Queens Beach Esplanade, with Strange’s ID in the car.

Strange pleaded guilty in the Bowen Magistrates Court to receiving tainted property, two charges of unlawful use of a motor vehicle, and using a carriage service to menace or harass.

He was sentenced to different concurrent periods of imprisonment with the longest one being 12 months.

His earliest parole release date will be September 27, when he will enter into a recognisance of $1000 for a period of three years.
