Bowen’s CBD could soon have a new service station with a drive-through takeaway attached if a development application is approved.

Brisbane Prestige Property Developments has applied to Whitsunday Regional Council to build the project at 47 Leichardt St, Bowen.

An empty commercial building on the site, that corners Livingstone St, would need to be demolished if the project went ahead.

Documents stated the council had shown its “in-principle support” for the works at a pre-lodgement meeting in February this year subject to it receiving detailed assessment.

Development details include a 220sq m service station adjoining s a 170sq m food and drink outlet with a drive-through attached.

“(It) will service the local convenience needs of residents and surrounding tourism or primary production industries and offers locally-based employment opportunities,” documents stated.

The proposed service station would operate 24/7.

Brisbane Prestige Property Developments, based in Corinda, Brisbane, has operated for more than 15 years.
