Police release image in search for woman after alleged Airlie Beach pub assault
A young woman’s night out at an Airlie Beach pub turned violent when a stranger allegedly punched her in the face near the darts area. Police have released an image of a woman they believe can help.
Police are investigating after a young Mackay woman was allegedly punched in the face by a stranger in a pub on the Whitsundays’ party strip.
Whitsunday police officers allege it was an unprovoked assault that happened at a licensed venue on Shute Harbour Rd, Airlie Beach, about 7pm on November 9.
It is further alleged the 23-year-old woman was punched in the face near the darts area in the venue.
No medical treatment was required and it is alleged the woman and her accused attacker – also a woman – were not known to each other. The alleged attacker left the area shortly afterwards.
Police have launched a public appeal calling for anyone who might have information about the incident, releasing an image of a woman officers believe may be able to assist with their inquiries.
