Police are investigating the charred remains of a vehicle that was on fire in bushland in the Whitsundays.
A Queensland Fire and Emergency Services spokesman said three crews were called to Jochheim Rd in Bowen, near the Eden Lassie Farm, just before 8am.
The spokesman said the car, believed to be a four-wheel-drive, was found between 50 to 80m off the road with no persons nearby.
He said firefighters had extinguished the flames by 8.41am but remained at the scene to ensure the blaze did not reignite in the “burnt out” vehicle.
Firefighters had to climb terrain to reach the car which Bowen Fire and Rescue Station Officer Chris Eden said was likely abandoned.
A Queensland Police Service spokeswoman said officers were also at the scene and were investigating the incident.
It is unknown whether the vehicle was stolen.
