Arrest warrants issued for eight people who failed to appear in court
Eight people face arrest warrants after failing to front court on charges ranging from drug supply to fraud.
A series of warrants have been authorised in the Whitsundays after multiple people failed to appear in court.
The orders were made by acting Magistrate Patricia Kirkman-Scroope during Proserpine call-over sittings this week.
Law enforcement agencies are now tasked with locating the defendants to ensure their matters proceed before the court.
Stephen Fenn
A warrant was issued for Mr Fenn after he failed to appear in Proserpine Magistrates Court on November 17.
Ms Kirkman-Scroope said the sick certificate he supplied was not satisfactory.
He was set to appear in relation to two charges of stealing and one charge of possessing suspected stolen property.
Vicki Louise Gambino
Bail was forfeited and a warrant was issued for Ms Gambino after she failed to appear in Proserpine Magistrates Court on November 17.
She was set to appear in relation to 28 charges including obtaining financial advantage by deception, attempting to obtain financial advantage by deception and dealing with money suspected to be proceeds of crime.
Benjamin Maxwell Gillan
A warrant was issued for Mr Gillan after he failed to appear in Proserpine Magistrates Court on November 17.
He was set to appear in relation to 22 charges including supplying dangerous drugs, possessing dangerous drugs, possessing suspected stolen property and assault.
Michael James Pennaertz
A warrant was issued for Mr Pennaertz and his license was suspended after he failed to appear in Proserpine Magistrates Court on November 17.
He was set to appear in relation to charges of driving without a licence, failing to comply with a direction to stop vehicle and drug driving.
Ivana Rasovic
Warrants were issued and bail was forfeited for Ms Rasovic after she failed to appear in Proserpine Magistrates Court on November 17.
Ms Kirkman-Scroope said the sick certificate that was supplied was not satisfactory, adding she was not sure if it was real.
“They look doctored to me but I’m not a fraud expert,” she said.
She was set to appear in relation to 17 charges including unauthorised dealing with shop goods, drug driving, fraud and unlawful use of a vehicle.
Braydon Phillip Thomas
A warrant was released for Mr Thomas after he failed to appear in Proserpine Magistrates Court on November 17.
He was set to appear in relation to a charge of drug driving.
Daniel Keith Thomas
A warrant was issued for Mr Thomas after he failed to appear in Proserpine Magistrates Court on November 17.
He was set to appear in relation to two counts of possessing dangerous drugs and two counts of possessing utensils.
Patrick Adam Yakalis
A warrant was issued for Mr Yakalis after he failed to appear in Proserpine Magistrates Court on November 17.
He was set to appear in relation to a charge of stealing.
