SEVEN new teachers and one principal yesterday experienced their first day at Proserpine State School.

Proserpine State School news officer Di Gilbert said the school was pleased to welcome "fresh, new, enthusiastic staff bringing a new wealth of knowledge and skills, complementing our existing staff."

Among the newbies was new school principal Robert Templeton.

Mr Templeton was the principal of Bloomsbury State School from 2006-08 and the deputy principal of Bowen State School from 2011-14, before he was appointed permanent principal of Proserpine State School in 2015.

Mr Templeton said the school will embed the Fleming Model of Explicit Teaching, which will see a significant increase in student learning outcomes.

"I consider that every child matters and that every day at schools counts towards students achieving to their full potential," he said. "I believe Proserpine State School staff has the skills and experience to support this vision."

Mr Templeton's vision for 2015 is to develop strong school community relationships while establishing high academic and behaviour expectations in supportive classroom environments.

"I enjoy working with passionate and professional educators who are dedicated to public schooling," he said.

Proserpine State School will also welcome back Year 5 teacher Naomi Campbell, who has returned to the school after two years of travel.

Year 2 teacher Tara Buchbach and Year 3 teacher Clare Hamilton have relocated from Norfolk Village State School on the Gold Coast.

Marnie Vernon (teaching Year 1 and 2) and Michelle Whatmough (Year 5) have transferred from Cannonvale State School.

Amanda Jamieson will teach Year 4 after previously working for Mirani State High School and Monique Faust (Year 2 and 3) will return to Proserpine State School from Scottsville State School.
