Hamilton Island’s newest offering is officially open.
Brand new boutique hotel, The Sundays, is welcoming guests to Hamilton Island with a guest-only pool and beach and a signature restaurant and bar
Hamilton Island CEO, Nick Dowling, said the 59-room hotel brought something truly special to the island that reflected the warm, laidback, uniquely Australian style of hospitality they were known for.
“Many of our guests first visited Hamilton Island as children, and now they’re returning with their own children and grandchildren to experience the magic all over again,” he said.
“The Sundays is part of Hamilton Island’s ongoing evolution—reimagined for today’s traveller on the site of one of the island’s original hotels.
“Over the years we’ve evolved our accommodation, dining, and experiences to reflect what our guests are looking for.”
Designer Carrie Williams aimed to create relaxed and contemporary spaces with natural textures and a soft coastal palette.
Each room includes custom artworks by First Nations and Hungarian artist Tiarna Herczeg reflecting the colours and stories of the Whitsundays as well as a balcony or terrace and premium amenities for every member of the family.
The hotel also features, Catseye Pool Club, the signature restaurant and bar by acclaimed Australian culinary duo Josh and Julie Niland.
The restaurant would celebrate seasonal Australian produce and a relaxed, share style approach to island dining said Mr Niland.
“The Catseye Pool Club approaches its menu with each item very much designed to be enjoyed as a whole table,” he said.
While breakfast is reserved exclusively for guests of the hotel, visitors are welcome for lunch and dinner.
The restaurant’s cocktail list was curated by Sam Cocks, known for his work at Saint Peter Bar.
Complimentary sunrise yoga, moonlit movie, and daily Sundays Sundaes by pool and beach are all a part of the experience that aims to provide something new in the already diverse range of accommodation available on the island.
More than $400m has been spent on upgrading Hamilton Island’s facilities since it was acquired in 2003 by 21st Century Resorts Holdings Pty Ltd, a company controlled by the Oatley family, with a key project including the development of a 18-hole golf course on neighbouring Dent Island, luxury resort qualia, and the the Hamilton Island Yacht Club and Villas.
