Mount Coolon rollover lands two men in Mackay hospital

Two men have been flown to a Mackay hospital, including one with serious head and back injuries, after a single car rollover on a station southwest of Proserpine. LATEST, PHOTOS

A man has been flown to hospital in a serious condition after a car rolled at Mount Coolon in the Whitsundays.

A Queensland Ambulance Service spokeswoman said three ambulance crews attended a property at the Cerito station on the Bowen Developmental Road after reports of a single vehicle rollover.

The QAS spokeswoman said there were two men in the car when the vehicle rolled at 7:28am.

One man was in serious condition with “head and back injuries” and the other man was in a stable condition with “back injuries”.

A RACQ CQ Rescue spokeswoman said a helicopter rescue crew was called to the property and arrived at 9.46am.

Both men were flown to Mackay Base Hospital.

A Queensland Police Service spokesman said police officers arrived at the scene at 9:30am.

Investigations as to the cause of the incident are ongoing.

It is understood the vehicle had swerved to the right before rolling.
