Much-loved Aussie acts The Angels and The Rogue Traders will headline the 2021 Airlie Beach Festival of Music in what is set to be one of the event’s biggest years yet.

Organisers dropped their first line-up announcement today, naming more than half a dozen world-class acts set to light up the stage in the picturesque Whitsundays setting this November.

Formed in 1977, pub rock legends The Angels have had 13 studio albums, eight Top 10 albums, 17 Top 40 singles, earned a following through thousands of gigs and been inducted into the ARIA Hall of Fame in 1998.

The band is “over the moon to be playing some shows again and can’t wait to strap on the guitars and rock out with the crowd at Airlie Beach”.

Iconic electric pop-rock band Rogue Traders have toured their global chart-topping singles nationally and globally for more than two decades.

The group, fronted by Natalie Bassingthwaighte, has sold more than one million records worldwide, with its 2005 album Here Comes the Drums reaching four times certified platinum on the ARIA albums chart.

Other big names performing this year include New Zealand’s Mi-Sex, bringing their classic new wave sound; captivating indie-folk act The Pierce Brothers; veteran blues musician Lloyd Spiegel; and Country Music Award winner Bill Chambers.

Launceston’s Ráv Thomas, an enduring Aussie independent music success story, with three Indie Number 1s, is stoked to return to the festival in 2021.

“After a year away, we couldn’t be more excited to return to what is like a second home for us for the Airlie Beach Festival of Music,” Thomas said.

“If anywhere knows how to party it’s Airlie, and we’ll be making up for lost time.”

Airlie Beach Festival of Music regular Matt Angell will also bring his talents back in 2021 – so get set for his stunning unique sound, influenced by the likes of Johnny Cash, Leonard Cohen and Neil Young.

The festival takes place from Friday, November 5 to Sunday, November 7, with further artist announcements to come.
