Future warriors graded

Coming from both the Proserpine and Cannonvale clubs, the students were assessed for their next belt level at the Whitsunday Taekwondo Oh Do Kwan Grading.

TAEKWONDO: The future generation of martial arts superstars were graded recently with 77 students taking the next step.

Coming from both the Proserpine and Cannonvale clubs, the students were assessed for their next belt level at the Whitsunday Taekwondo Oh Do Kwan Grading.

There were 22 Tigers (aged 4-7), 35 Juniors (7-12) and 20 Seniors (12+), who all successfully passed and advanced to their next level, Gup or Dan.

The grading was conducted by master instructor and examiner, Vicky Gillam (5th Dan Black Belt) and assisted by Jim Hodges (2nd Dan) and Emma Faletti (1st Dan).

"All of the students have worked extremely hard to get to this stage in their training and there were some notable achievements on the day," Gillam said.

Micah Iddles obtained his 2nd Dan Black Belt and Jody Van Wyk obtained his 1st Dan Black Belt.

From the "Tigers" there were Direct Promotions to Junior Belt for Freddie Radford, Aaron McKay, Austin Edwards-Bland, Stirling Edwards-Bland, Deanna Gould, Lindon Istogu, Ella-Rose Peterson and Zoe Fenning.

Double Promotions were awarded to Tigers Bonnie Moretto, Ellie-Rose Davies, Levi Baker, May Thompson, Jasper Read, Imogen Howard, Ethan Davies and Emilia Adam. Stella Nitz was triple promoted to Yellow/Black Belt and Tyson Fenning to Yellow/White Belt.

From the Seniors Marivic Gaskin and Sonya Werner both Double graded to 8th Gup - Yellow 2. The Best Grading Trophies went to Madison Taylor, Vivien Rose, Ella-Rose Peterson and Imogen Howard.
