Cannonvale, Bowen e-scooter crashes leave two women injured

Fresh e-mobility safety concerns emerge as two women crash their e-scooters in the Whitsundays, just days after two deaths sparked calls for a crackdown.

Three people have been injured, one in a potentially life threatening condition, following back to back e-mobility incidents in north Queensland.

This comes just days after calls for an e-bikes crackdown after a young boy and a teen were killed and two people were left critically injured in just five days.
In the early hours Wednesday a woman in her 20s suffered potentially serious injuries after striking her head following an e-scooter incident in Cannonvale.

Paramedics were called to a location on Island Drive in Cannonvale after the woman suffered a head injury at 2.35am following an e-scooter incident.

Queensland Ambulance Service reported she was taken to Proserpine Hospital “in a potentially life-threatening condition”.

Two hours in Bowen later a woman in her 50s was also taken to hospital following an e-scooter incident on Whitsunday St at 4.35am.

She was taken to Bowen Hospital in a stable condition with chest pain.

Meanwhile in Central Queensland aman in his 20swas taken to Rockhampton Hospital with a head injury following an e-scooter crash late Tuesday night.

It is barely a week since eight-year-old Zeke Hondow was killed in an e-bike collision on the Sunshine Coast on October 30.

Two days later Fudou Stovell, 15, lost his life in an e-bike crash on the Gold Coast.
Earlier this week in the Brisbane region there were two serious incidents barely 12 hours apart.
A 30-year-old skateboard rider suffered serious head injuries and was taken to Princess Alexandra Hospital in a critical but stable condition after the electric skateboard he was on and Toyota Prado collided on Monday night.

That same day at 11am and 23-year-old e-scooter rider suffered serious injuries from colliding with a ute on the Logan Motorway. He was taken to Princess Alexandra Hospital in a potentially life-threatening condition with significant head and facial injuries.
