Cannonvale locals can now enjoy a new-look Coles, with updated features including new lighting, refrigeration and on-trend food concepts.

The new-look store was relaunched with a team celebration and ribbon cutting before customers were welcomed through the doors earlier this week.

Store manager Andrew McIntosh said he was excited to provide an enhanced shopping experience and 30 more local jobs to the community.

The new store champions sustainability as part of Coles’ ambition to be Australia’s most sustainable supermarket and now features energy-saving fridge doors.

“The relaunch of Coles Cannonvale is the last part of seven weeks in the making, but before that we had the majority of the refrigeration replaced, so all new deli, meat and fruit cases, so quite a bit of money has been spent on the store,” Mr McIntosh said.

“It’s all new layouts and the whole of the grocery aisles have been re-laid and heaps of new products have come in.

“New concepts in store also include artisan sourdough, freshly flipped flatbread and a mouth-watering frozen desert bar.

“The frozen mochi, macarons and mini gelato are so popular we are flat out keeping up.”

After the first upgrade in the supermarket’s 16 year history, customers said the store appeared “streamlined and fresh.”

“It was tired and run down but it looks neat and fully stocked now, with everything in its place,” Airlie Beach resident Cobi Smith remarked.

Along with the launch of home delivery for time-poor customers, Coles’ convenient and complementary shopping service Click&Collect has expanded, with additional car parks added and new shades covering the collection area, just in time for summer.

“Customers don’t have to stand getting rained on or sunburnt anymore and we also have a second truck now for online deliveries to all around Cannonvale, Bowen, Midge Point and Proserpine,” Mr McIntosh said.

“A lot of thought and effort has gone into it - a lot of man hours over the last two months, to get it to where it is now.”

The store is also in community partnerships with the Stephanie Alexander Kitchen Garden Foundation and SecondBite, an organisation Coles has worked with since 2011, helping donate unsold edible food to disadvantaged Australians.

Coles Cannonvale is located on the corner of Island Drive and Shute Harbour Road in Airlie Beach and is open 8am - 9pm daily.
