Bowen State High School is on track for a record-breaking year of enrolments that is set to provide a welcome boost for the town.
There will be about 740 students enrolled at the school in 2021, which is an increase of 20 from this school year.
This means a new class will be added, in what school principal Pam Prichard said was a record for the six years she has been at the school and had the potential to go down in the history books.
"We may just reach record numbers this year," she said.
"The school just continues to grow, which is outstanding.
"It's a big school in a small community."
With more students comes more teachers, and Bowen State High School will welcome 15 new staff in 2021.
Mrs Prichard said this would provide a big boost for Bowen as more people moved into the area.
To add to an already exciting year, Bowen State High School would also celebrate the 60th anniversary since the school was founded.
There would be several events to mark the milestone throughout the year as well as a commemorative fishing shirt for sale.
The school also this week announced glowing results from what had been a trying year for Year 12 students.
Bowen State High School was above the state average with 100 per cent of Year 12 students attaining a QCE or QCIA.

Star student Khoi Tran Dang achieved an ATAR of 99.15, which is equivalent to an OP 1 in the previous QCE system.
Mrs Prichard said while the school continued to grow, the students would remain at the fore of every decision.
"I say to my staff continuously that students will remain the core focus of the work that we do," she said.
"That's what I'm really proud of; how we support our students from our high performing students to our students who require intervention and further educational support."
