BUNDABERG

- North Bundaberg being evacuated after the Burnett River broke its banks on Sunday
- Up to 100 homes and businesses already flooded
- Fears up to 200 other properties could go under
- Disaster declaration now covers most low-lying suburbs of the city
- Burnett River is now expected to peak at 9m sometime on Sunday; the peak in 2010-11 floods was 7.5m
- Evacuation centres are taking in those forced to leave their homes
- Bundaberg region hit by six tornadoes since 1pm (AEST) on Saturday, Jan 26
- Tornado damage to homes and businesses in Burnett Heads, Bargara, Coonarr and Burrum Heads
 
GYMPIE

- Rooftop rescues have been carried out in towns of Widgee and Sexton, west of Gympie, mayor says
- Man missing in floodwaters after trying to cross Widgee Creek, near Gympie; two others rescued
- Widespread flooding in the Gympie and South Burnett regions
- Mary River expected to peak at 17m, just shy of levels reached during the 2011 floods, on Sunday afternoon
- River expected to cut city in two
- Parts of Gympie CBD expected to flood
- Many major arterial roads cut, including the Bruce Highway

GLADSTONE

- Boyne Island and Tannum Sands, south of Gladstone, experiencing unprecedented flooding
- 900 homes evacuated
- Some homes flooded to their ceilings at Baffle Creek, between Gladstone and Bundaberg

SUNSHINE COAST

- Mayor urges residents worried about flooding to evacuate before it's too late

- up to 150mm of rain fallen in 24 hours to 9am Sunday
- affected creeks include Lockyer, Laidley, Warrill as well as the Bremer River
- major flooding possible in Lockyer Creek and Bremer River
- rises and minor flooding at Upper Lockyer Creek and Helidon
- moderate to major flooding expected downstream to Gatton

BRISBANE

- Brisbane expecting six hours of cyclonic winds and torrential rain from about 2pm (AEST)
- Residents warned to prepare their properties with forecasters warning there could be more tornadoes
- Forecasters say the city will get 200mm to 300mm of rain over next 24 hours; some areas could get 400mm.
- Winds of 60 knots, or 125kph, equivalent to a strong category one cyclone, expected
- Some reports of localised flooding including in bayside suburbs

GOLD COAST

- Gold Coast expecting the worst of ex-Cyclone Oswald between 6pm and 8pm
- People have been blown off their feet in Surfers Paradise as 80km wind gusts whip through highrises
- Material torn off buildings and debris flying through streets
- More than 450mm of rain has fallen at Upper Springbrook in last two days
- Police have had to order swimmers out of surf at closed beaches
- Police slam wild weather 'rubber-neckers' putting themselves and emergency service workers in danger
- Mayor Tom Tate to provide an update at 5pm

POWER CUTS IN FLOOD-HIT QUEENSLAND, ACCORDING TO ENERGEX
 
More than 150,000 homes and businesses have lost power in the past 24 hours
- Power restored to around 40,000 of these
- More than 820 powerlines down
 
At 6.30pm (AEST), areas affected were:
- Brisbane City Council, 19,000
- Gold Coast City Council, 2900
- Gympie Regional Council, 3500
- Ipswich City Council, 900
- Logan City Council, 12,500
- Moreton Bay Regional Council, 17,000
- Redland City Council, 4300
- Scenic Rim Regional Council, 4900
- Somerset Regional Council, 150
- Sunshine Coast Regional Council, 26,500
- Some homes and businesses could be without power until Monday at earliest
- If you are using a generator ensure it is in a well ventilated open space.
