Man dies after bike, car collide; wet weather creates chaos, big delays on Brisbane roads

A 60-year-old man has died after a car and a motorbike collided in Brisbane’s south this morning. The confirmation comes after a chaotic morning on South East roads as accidents and wet weather created big delays.

A 60-year-old man has died after a car and a motorbike collided at Yeronga, in Brisbane’s south, this morning.

Police say the Collingwood Park man died when his bike and the car collided at Fairfield and Hyde roads around 5.35am.

The rider was pronounced dead at the scene, while the male driver of the car was not physically injured.

Anyone who witnessed the crash, or has footage, has been urged to contact police.

North of Brisbane, there have been major delays on the Bruce Highway after a multi-vehicle crash at Morayfield, with parts of the area hit by flash-flooding.

The crash, which occurred about 9.20am south of the Morayfield exit, caused 30-minute delays northbound towards the Sunshine Coast.

Meanwhile, there were major delays on the Pacific Motorway after a five-car pileup at Holland Park.

The vehicles collided on the Gaza Rd off-ramp about 6.30am.

Two lanes were blocked but the crash scene was cleared just after 8am.

And a crash on the Riverside Expressway caused delays of up to 20 minutes on Coronation Drive and massive issues for the Inner City Bypass about 7.40am.
