Storm warning for part of southeast Queensland
A severe thunderstorm warning for large hailstones and damaging winds issued for parts of the state’s southeast has since been cancelled.

A SEVERE thunderstorm warning for large hailstones and damaging winds issued for parts of the state’s southeast has since been cancelled.
Earlier warnings had been issued to people in the South Burnett, Toowoomba and Lockyer Valley regions.
The Bureau of Meteorology cancelled the warning at 6.48pm.
“Severe thunderstorms are no longer affecting the southeast Queensland area (east of Dalby from Rainbow Beach to Stanthorpe),” the warning said.
It comes after an updated warning was issued at 5.20pm.
“At 5.20pm, severe thunderstorms were detected on the weather radar. They are forecast to affect Hampton by 5.55pm and Crows Nest by 6.25pm,” the updated warning said.
“Damaging winds and marginal large hailstones are likely.”
An earlier warning was issued at 4.24pm for the Lockyer Valley region after being detected near Helidon.
Queensland Fire and Emergency Services advises that people should:
* Move your car under cover or away from trees.
* Secure loose outdoor items.
* Seek shelter, preferably indoors and never under trees.
* Avoid using the telephone during a thunderstorm.
* Beware of fallen trees and powerlines.
