Spring weather: Rain is finally on the way but where will we see it?

QUEENSLANDERS have put winter well and truly behind them as they step out to the golden beaches and enjoy the warmer-than-average weather that spring is expected to deliver.

With temperatures rising through the week to reach 27C on Saturday, Bureau of Meteorology’s Kimba Wong said a warmer than average September is ahead.

“It’s looking like reasonably typical early spring conditions, we’ve got maximum temperatures in the low to mid 20s for the most part,” she said.

“But our September outlook does suggest a warmer than average month in terms of maximum and minimum temperatures pretty much across the state”.

She said the average September temperatures were typically a maximum of 25.7C and a minimum of 13.8C.

Sunshine Coast local Stephanie Kunde said she could not wait to spend more time in the sun.

“I’m definitely looking forward to spending more time at the beach, I can’t wait for it to warm up so that the water won’t be so cold,” she said.

The 23-year-old, who has grown up in the sunny Queensland weather said the commencement of Spring meant that her favourite season was nearing.

“I can’t wait for summer, I go to the beach most days, sometimes play volleyball with a friend, lay in the sun, swim or go for a walk.”

Brisbane can expect a top of 24C today with a chance of showers, while the Gold and Sunshine Coasts are set to reach 23C.
