Queensland floods 2022: How you can help

Queensland residents looking to do their part in the clean up efforts can donate their time or items in a range of ways. HERE’S HOW YOU CAN HELP.

There are a range of ways Queensland residents can assist in flood relief efforts, from cleaning properties to donating unused items or funds.

Brisbane’s Mud Army has been reinstated with more than 10,000 people signing up to help clean houses from Friday.

There are a range of locations across Brisbane and the Gold Coast dedicated to collecting much-needed donations for Queensland and New South Wales’ flood relief efforts.

Donations include baby items like nappies and bottles, water, non-perishable food and toiletries.

There are also charities accepting funds that would go towards flood relief, like the Red Cross, GIVIT and GoFundMe.

Mud Army 2.0

Brisbane City Council is calling on volunteers to sign up to the Mud Army 2.0 to help clean up the city.

Volunteers are set to be deployed from Friday to assist with clean up efforts.

More than 10,000 people have already registered to help with more than 700 requests for assistance.

GIVIT

GIVIT allows users to match donations with the specific requests of those impacted by the floods, from spare clothes to white goods and cleaning vouchers.

QFES SES and RFS

Queensland’s State Emergency Service volunteer organisation and Rural Fire Service accept cheque donations and direct deposits to provide essential equipment and resources for volunteers in the floods.

Australian Red Cross

Volunteers working across evacuation centres over Queensland and New South Wales.

Funds donated go towards enabling volunteers and staff to help with evacuations, relief centres and outreach service, as well as supporting people and communities to recover and to build resilience to disasters.

Foodbank Queensland’s flood appeal

Foodbank’s emergency appeal are accepting funds to cover food, water, freight and resources to deliver to the hardest hit areas impacted by the floods.

Donations can provide money for groceries, reducing hunger and removing a major stress for families.

Crisis Heroes

The community aid service allows users to put out a call out for help for anything like groceries and dry clothes and volunteers will come to their aid.

GoFundMe

Donate directly to individuals situations through GoFundMe.

More than $500,000 has been raised across more than 150 pages so far.

Baby Give Back

Accepting donations of new towels and face washers for kids and adults, nappies all sizes, wipes, formula all types and stages, body wash/soap for kids and adults, shampoo and conditioner for kids and adults, toothbrushes and toothpaste for kids and adults, roll on deodorant for men and women, nappy cream and non perishable food, baby food and bottled water.

Bella Bronze Tans

All proceeds from spray tan bookings at Brisbane and Gold Coast salons on Friday 11 March will be donated to the Queensland and New South Wales flood appeal through GIVIT.

Cheveux Design and Espresso

37A Bangalla St, Auchenflower

Clients at the hair salon and espresso bar started a coffee tab for locals affected by the floods, and Cheveux has decided to pick up the remaining tab for the rest of the week.

Those affected by floods could enjoy a coffee on the house at the Auchenflower business.

Parkland Christian Centre

Tuesday to Friday 8am-5pm

Gathering donations for the Logan community, accepting brooms, plastic buckets, mop, gloves, masks, disinfectant, spray & wipe cleaner, sponges, dishwashing detergent, clothes detergent and hand soap.

Backbone, East Brisbane Bowls Club

38 Lytton Road East Brisbane

From 4.30pm Thursday

Community members could volunteer or donate meals at East Brisbane Bowls Club as the Backbone team offer hot meals and warm drinks.

The Pines Vet

Shop 10 Universal Street Pacific Pines

Accepting donations for families affected by the floods and their pets, requiring crates, leads, collars, bowls, beds, raised beds, food and litter.

The Cage Youth Foundation and C3 Church Redland Bay

Thursday 8am to 3pm

Accepting donations of baby products including formula, nappies and wipes, toiletries, food and bedding.
