Queensland may have enjoyed a brief reprieve from frosty mornings, but the Bureau of Meteorology warns the winter chill will return from Tuesday.
Meteorologist Harry Clark said the warmer spell was thanks to a combination of factors.
“We had a trough push through South East Queensland this morning, which dragged down warmer air from the north of Queensland down to the southeast. The moisture and the clouds also act as a bit of a blanket and doesn’t allow heat to escape at night,” he said.
“Last night Brisbane had a minimum of 14.4C and the average for July is around 10 degrees. The daytime conditions as well are fairly above average.”
A drier westerly wind change is now moving in behind the trough, bringing clear skies and a return to cooler mornings.

“We will have sunny conditions throughout the week with fairly comfortable daytime temperatures,” he said.
“The rain this morning will be the last we see for a while. There’s a slim chance of rain on Thursday but only for that one day.”
Brisbane is forecast to drop to 9C on Tuesday, and as low as 8C on Saturday.
Ipswich is expected to drop as low as 3C on Tuesday, with the temperature in Oakey and Roma set to drop below 0C.
