THE sunshine state will be living up to its name these school holidays, with mostly sunny conditions across Queensland expected.
Temperatures are expected to stay around their seasonal averages across the state, according to the Bureau of Meteorology, meaning there’s no excuse to stay indoors over the Easter break.
8-year-old Kiri Todhunter hit the Noosa River yesterday to celebrate the first day of school holidays.
Her dad Lee said Kiri and the family would be making the most of the warm weather while it still lasted.
“The water this morning was still warm,” Mr Todhunter said. “The water temperatures are still amazing, which is just Queensland.”
“We’ll hit the beach and the rivers as much as we can.”
BOM meteorologist Kimba Wong said, with the exception of monsoon conditions on the cape, most of Queensland would see calm conditions.
“Generally speaking, it’s a static weather pattern across Queensland for the next week,” Ms Wong said.
She said there would be isolated showers along the coast, but these wouldn’t venture inland.
“We’re looking at Brisbane sitting around the high 20s (for the rest of the week).”
The Gold and Sunshine coasts would see temperatures at around 28-30C until Wednesday or Thursday, when a cool change is expected to move in from the south.
Ms Wong said this cool change will bring the slight chance of thunderstorms on Wednesday.
