Brisbane weather: Users take to social media to celebrate major storm
After months of hot, dry conditions, Brisbane residents’ prayers for rain were answered in spectacular fashion last night, and social media users were quick to share their celebrations – even if some of them ended up as victims of the deluge.

THE clouds burst over Brisbane overnight as a severe thunderstorm dumped more than 100mm of rain on the parched city.
Bureau of Meteorology figures confirmed more rain fell in a matter of hours than has fallen in the past six months combined, so it’s little wonder residents were quick to take to social media to share their joy.
Brisbane registered a little more than 130mm in the past 24 hours.
Several calls were made for swift water rescues from the QFES, and the SES received dozens of calls, mostly about roofs.
There is a clean-up effort under way in the city’s east, with trees down.
Many social media users told of their surprise at seeing the storm roll through, after forecasts suggested there was only a 10 per cent chance of rain when checked earlier in the day.
Former Premier Campbell Newman was quick to pounce on that fact, suggesting the Bureau of Meteorology “need to do better”.
Brisbane, SE Qld and northern NSW being lashed by storm. Meantime BOM advised Govt there would be no rain till April and even now weather app says "possible storm". They need to do better

The majority of the reactions were positive, however, even from those who suffered damage to their homes or flooding.
One Twitter user even tweeted: “My windows are all leaking and it’s the BEST!”

So, here's the thing. I'm kind of a #weather nerd. I love storms and pretty much everything to do with wild weather.

So, naturally, when a #tropical #storm hit tonight, my first instinct was to run upstairs to the rooftop to experience it ðð#Brisbane #queensland #bnestorm pic.twitter.com/82bmqvnRHH

Water pouring down walls & across the ceiling at my house during the storm. Guess the SES got lots of calls as I put in a request for help at 10:50pm & it's now 2:30am with no sign. Not sure there's anything they can do now if there's no more rain on the way? #bnestorm pic.twitter.com/krJ8Wy1BI6
