Brisbane weather: Hail, heavy falls after storms hit South East Qld

Hail and heavy rainfall has been recorded in some parts of the South East after severe storms swept through the area.

Severe thunderstorms hit parts of South East Queensland on Saturday afternoon, with heavy falls and hail reported in some areas.

The weather bureau issued a storm warning at 2.15pm for those living in the Somerset and Moreton Bay council areas, with damaging winds, large hailstones and heavy rainfall forecast.

But it was Logan that copped the hail - with 2cm hail recorded there.

Storms were also detected near Dayboro, Mount Mee and Woodford, while a separate, more general severe thunderstorm warning was in place for the Southeast Coast and Wide Bay and Burnett forecast districts.

BOM cancelled all storm warnings just before 3.30pm.
