Watch: The moment police arrest a man now charged with 40+ offences

A man who allegedly stole a four-wheel-drive in Mackay has allegedly led police on a hunt all the way down to Brisbane before being arrested and charged with more than 40 offences including assault and theft.

Footage has been released showing the arrest of a man who is now facing more than 40 charges relating to the alleged stealing of a four-wheel-drive in central Queensland and a jetski in Brisbane.

The man was charged with more than 40 offences, including assault and drugs charges.

Police say the 36-year-old man stole a white Toyota Prado from a business at Paget, near Mackay, on July 10, before driving south to Brisbane.

The following day, police were called to a reported break-and-enter at Cleveland on Brisbane’s bayside, where they say the man assaulted another man aged in his 50s, while on July 12, the Prado was allegedly seen driving dangerously outside Chermside Shopping Centre after police were called to a disturbance.

Four days later, the man allegedly used the same stolen Prado to steal a jetski from an Alexandra Hills property.

The moment a man now facing more than 40 charged was arrested by police.

Police took to the skies in the police helicopter, Polair, and found the car later that night on North St, Cleveland, and directed police on the ground to a nearby licenced premises where they arrested him.

During his arrest, police searched the Prado and allegedly found a quantity of drugs, drug utensils, and suspected stolen property, while the jetski was recovered after a member of the public located it on Sunday afternoon at Mt Cotton.

The man was charged with more than 40 offences, including unlawful use of a motor vehicle, disqualified driving, possessing drugs, drug utensils, tainted property offences, assault occasioning bodily harm, enter premises and commit indictable offence.

The 36-year-old was refused bail and will front the Brisbane Magistrates Court on Wednesday.
