Watch: Large bull shark stalks Lake Orr on the Gold Coast

A large bull shark has been spotted swimming near the water’s edge at a popular Gold Coast lake.

A video, taken by resident David Yang, showed the large shark swimming right near the rocks in Varsity Lakes’ Lake Orr.

The man-made lake, situated near Bond University, has had several sightings of large bull sharks over the years.

In 2018 a two-metre bull shark was caught in the lake from one man’s back yard.

Local Robbie Still, who had caught the shark, said he had regularly heard the large fish jumping around in the water.

Bull sharks in Lake Orr made news in 2006 when a man who lived in an apartment complex above the lake would reel the sharks in from his balcony six floors up.

Lake Orr was one of many on the Gold Coast known to be teeming with dangerous bull sharks.
