WATCH: Huge trucks collide on M1 at Pimpama which caused hours of traffic mayhem

The spectacular M1 double truck crash that led to queues stretching more than 20 kilometres for five hours on Wednesday has been caught on a highway traffic camera. SEE THE VIDEO

A huge double truck crash which led to horror traffic conditions on Wednesday evening at Pimpama has been caught on a highway traffic camera.

The footage shows two safety vehicles entering the highway before a the truck carrying gravel collided with the gas tanker from behind.

Both drivers escaped with minor injuries.

The gravel truck then rollover, with other cars managing not to get caught in the mayhem.

The crash that occurred at 1:45pm wasn’t fully clear until 8:15pm on the Pacific Mwy southbound, south of exit 49 at Pimpama with gravel spilt right across the road.

Luckily no other vehicles were caught up in the initial impact of the collision.

No one was seriously injured at the scene but one of the drivers was taken to Gold Coast University Hospital in a stable condition.
