Plea to parents as 17 kids in hospital, 50 new vax hubs open

More than a dozen children are in hospital with Covid-19 and 50 new school-based vaccination centres have been set up, with the state currently facing 2274 active cases in school kids.

There are 17 school aged children in hospital with Covid making the total active cases in children 2274.

The government has set up 50 school-based vaccination hubs to continue to drive vaccination in the younger demographic.

Deputy Premier Steven Miles revealed six people have lost their lives over the last 24 hour period as a result of Covid-19.

They were all aged over 70 years of age.

Mr Miles revealed the state has recorded 9435 new cases over the last 24 hours.

A total of 739 people have died since the latest covid wave hit the state in December.

Mr Miles said the re-introduction of mask wearing is not under active consideration at the moment, but authorities will listen to health advice. He urged the public to carry masks at all times and wear them if need be.
