Wind gusts of up to 57km per hour have created troubles for events on final day of Jumpers and Jazz

Mother Nature continues to wreak havoc on Jumpers and Jazz events, with damaging wind gusts of up to 57km per hour causing some headaches for stallholders at the Potters Craft Markets.

Strong winds on the final day of Jumpers and Jazz forced some stallholders at the Potters Craft Markets to pack up and head home early.

BOM meteorologist Peter Markworth said a severe weather warning was issued for the Main Range, with wind gusts reaching up to 57km per hour in Warwick.

“If those winds were blowing consistently, you’d be looking at gale-force winds,” he said.

While Mr Markworth said the westerly airflow would die down by Sunday afternoon, it was too late for some of the 250 stall holders on Palmerin Street.

Heavenly Yours owner Natasha Leventhal said she had no choice but to call it a day at noon.

“The wind is so strong it’s broken our marquee so I’m not sure how we’re going to get that home,” she said.

Ms Leventhal, who co-owns a natural hair and skincare business, said it was disappointing to leave early.

“We’ve come from the Gold Coast, so it’s cost us a lot of money,” Ms Leventhal said.

Ray’s Embroidery owners Ray and Elaine Polman, who been bracing themselves against their gazebo throughout the morning to stop it blowing away, said several other stallholders found it too windy.

“We’d think about packing up, but things are selling well,” Mr Polman said.

Jumpers and Jazz media co-ordinator Bette Bonney said it was unfortunate the wind caused such chaos for stallholders, but said overall the event had been a positive one.

“We’ve had lots of visitors in town and we had our Twilight Jazz in the Park last night at the showgrounds and that was (about) 350 people,” Mrs Bonney said.

“It’s been pretty blowy, but they’ve done pretty well. There have been people everywhere and they’ve been buying up and they’ve been looking through all the markets, so that’s been good for them

“It was good for them and good for the CBD businesses.

“They've all been feeding back very with positive feedback, that’s for sure.”

Mrs Bonney said final attendance figures would be known later next week.
