A Stanthorpe fugitive who allegedly headbutted a police officer transporting him to court before fleeing remains on the run as authorities vow to recapture him.

Clayton Michael-Johan Alvoen allegedly escaped custody on April 28, 2021, as he was being escorted from the Warwick watch-house.

He hasn’t been seen since.

Two people were charged with aiding the escape, with Alvoen’s cousin Brodie Joseph Brennan telling a court he found the fugitive in his boot after leaving court.

Brennan told Stanthorpe Magistrates Court in September, 2021 he “reluctantly” drove from the Warwick court with Alvoen in his boot because he was “frightened and scared” of his cousin.

Warwick police continue their search for fugitive Clayton Alvoen, who allegedly headbutted a police officer before fleeing custody.

Alvoen was due to face six charges in Warwick Magistrates Court on Monday, including assault occasioning bodily harm while armed or in company, serious assault, threatening violence, drug driving, failing to appear and drug possession.

A manhunt was launched after his disappearance but has uncovered little sign of the 29-year-old.

Warwick detective Michael Hauff said that when found, Alvoen would face serious charges relating to his escape.

“The search for him is an ongoing matter, and when he is caught he’s going to have more charges such as escaping lawful custody and assaulting a police officer, which are pretty significant charges,” he said.

“He’s fled because he was already facing serious charges, so the idea of him facing more serious charges I don’t think will worry him more than he already was.

“He won’t appear on his own volition, the only way he’ll face charges is if we find him.

“And we will find him.”
