The Warwick community is reeling from the tragic death of popular high school student Tiarnah Reid, after the 16-year-old was killed in a horror crash on Mt Tabor Rd.

Tiarnah was a back seat passenger when the dual cab ute she was travelling in left the road in the early hours of Friday morning and rolled several times.

The Year 11 student tragically died at the scene.

Another 16-year-old girl seated beside Tiarnah suffered serious head injuries and was flown to Princess Alexandra Hospital in a critical condition.

The 17-year-old driver and a 16-year-old male passenger were taken to Warwick Hospital.

Tiarnah was a well-liked Warwick High School student and the youngest of three children for Warwick business identities Jamie and Kristy Reid, who owned Mid City Collision for 25 years and currently own Warwick Towing recovery.

Breanna Fischer worked with Tiarnah at Chung Hing restaurant and said she was devastated to hear of her “kind-hearted” friend’s death.

“Tiarnah was such a sweet girl,” she said.

“I worked with her she was always so positive and kind and was always helpful.

“I was gobsmacked when I found out about Tiarnah and how she was taken so soon.

“I’m still trying to figure out why she was just taken with the click of a hand - it’s definitely going to be different without working with her tonight.”

The tragedy has sent shockwaves through the community, which is grappling to deal with the devastating loss of a young life so close to Christmas.

Warwick police officer-in-charge Jamie Deacon said early investigations suggested a white dual cab ute was travelling south on an unsealed section of Mount Tabor Rd around 2.30am before the driver lost control, causing the vehicle to leave the road and roll several times.

Locals took to social media on Friday to share their shock and dismay at the tragic death that has come at a time when many Warwick families are preparing from Christmas festivities.

Rosalind Hart was saddened by the news and urged drivers to be vigilant this holiday season.

“We are all impacted by this sad news of a girl passing too young. May her family and friends be given strength when they think of her,” she said.

“Lets all drive super carefully and focused on the road when we are driving this Christmas period.”

Tiana Serena was dismayed at the tragic passing of someone at such a young age.

“My heart goes out to this girl’s family and friends, including the others in the car,” she said.

“Teenagers are so young in life. I’m deeply sorry for all of your loss and pain.

“I just pray for some comfort in your grief as everyone involved processes this tragedy.”

Chrismal Cooper shared her grief after also losing a loved one in a motor vehicle crash.

“As a mum who recently lost her teenage son as a result of a car accident my heart absolutely breaks for all the families of these kids my prayers and thoughts are with everyone,” she said.

Maureen Carr said: “Too many young ones have lost their lives this week. It‘s gut wrenching for all the families.”

Terri McMeniman said: “How devastating for their families.

“Condolences and prayers for all those affected.”

Senior Sergeant Deacon said a member of the public who witnessed the crash called police shortly after.

Officers from the Forensic Crash Unit are investigating.

The death comes amid a tragic spate of road deaths across the state, with more than 240 fatal crashes in Queensland involving 268 deaths this year.

A 24-year-old St George man died when he crashed his motorcycle in Roma this week.
