Warwick emergency crews pull reportedly stolen car from Leslie Dam

It has taken multiple emergency crews to pull the car believed to be stolen from the major dam near Warwick.

UPDATE: Initial police reports indicate the car pulled from Leslie Dam near Warwick this afternoon was stolen.

It took multiple emergency crews several hours to tow the silver sedan from the water on Wednesday afternoon.

Police and fire units were joined by SES volunteers and a swift water rescue team in their efforts to salvage the submerged vehicle.

EARLIER: A rescue operation has been launched at Leslie Dam this afternoon, with reports of a car stuck metres underwater.

Initial reports suggest the submerged vehicle was called in just before 2pm Wednesday, with Warwick police and fire crews both directed to the scene.

A Queensland Fire and Emergency Services spokeswoman said the incident was currently being treated as a water rescue, but was unable to confirm whether anyone was inside or the cause.

SES volunteers and a swift water rescue team are also on their way to Leslie Dam, with emergency crews preparing to tow the car from the water.
