THE winners of the tree jumpers competition were announced last night (see page 15) and the woman tasked with making the tough decision was artist Sue Dennis.

Mrs Dennis's display, 'Taking Leaf of my Senses' is currently on display at the Warwick Art Gallery.

"I am the invited artist for the festival which means I get to judge the tree jumpers," she said.

It was Mrs Dennis's first Jumpers and Jazz experience but it definitely was not her first time judging.

"I do a lot of judging for quilting shows in Australia and internationally," she said.

"It's a challenge - an enjoyable challenge."

Mrs Dennis said she judged the trees according to three categories.

"They will be judged on their creative and visual impact and design and execution of the craft," she said.

Mrs Dennis said each tree was given points from one to 10 for each category and the tree with the most points won.

She said the criteria was similar to the judging criteria she used when judging international competitions.
