SHOWJUMPING: Three Warwick competitors travelled to Maryborough to compete in the Queensland Interschool State Showjumping Championship.

The Championships run between Wednesday and Saturday with the Warwick competitors starting today at 8am.

Competitors Darcey Tait from Assumption College, Bridget Noble from Warwick State High School and Sophie Poole from Scots PGC College all trained under Christine Bradfield.

"The competition is great team-building for them because they rely on each other for support," Bradfield said.

Bridget has trained with Bradfield for seven years and said she loved horses and their athleticism.

"I always wanted to do this since I was young but I never thought I would get this far," Bridget said.

Sophie's love for horses was inevitable as her mother and Bradfield are lifelong friends.

"I have been around horses my whole life, my mum would go to competitions with Christine," Sophie said.

"It feels good following in my mum's footsteps."

Darcey is the newest to the sport but she has loved her experience so far.

"I loved horses but didn't have an interest in show-jumping until my first lesson with Christine," Darcey said.

"She is a great trainer, she knows when to push you and when you've had enough."

Bradfield said the results of the competition come second to the personal development which comes with it.

"My biggest motto is it's not about the competition, it's about improving themselves," she said.
