NETBALL: Zara MacPherson is aiming to get as far as possible in netball after playing for the Warwick 13/14 years team which was runner up at a carnival at Caboolture.
"I would love to play for Australia, I want to get a good job and play netball at the highest possible level after I leave school,” she said.
Warwick beat Redcliffe, Caboolture, Caloundra, Bundaberg, Nambour and Noosa and lost 18-14 to Sunshine Coast at Caboolture.
Goal defence Dakota Newton rated the win against Redcliffe as the best of the carnival.
"The Redcliffe team looked like they had played together for a long time, they are all going to the state age championships in the school holidays,” Newton said.
"We played with a lot of aggression against Sunshine Coast and showed we really want to win. We marked their players well.”
The Warwick team's strength has also been shown in the Darling Downs Inter-district competition, which is held each year in the first half of the netball season.
They won 24 games to be unbeaten in 13/14 years division 1.
They are playing under the Skittles banner in Warwick A/B grade open netball fixtures.
Skittles are the youngest team in the competition and believe they played their best game this season against Doorslammers, a team which is mentoring them this season. Warwick netball is in recess to after the school holidays.
