RUGBY LEAGUE: Warwick Cowboys trio Mitch Watson, Cody Byrne and Coen Martin-Brown will play for the Toowoomba Clydesdales in regional under-20 trials in Murgon this weekend.
The three Cowboys are being supported by the Warwick Cowboys Old Boys Association, which is paying their game fees.
Watson has been selected in his favourite position at fullback and will be playing in his second regional carnival.
Byrne and Martin-Brown will play in their first under-20 carnival.
This year, Byrne is in his first year of seniors so will be young enough to play in the same carnival next year.
He will play lock this weekend.
Martin-Brown will be part of the Clydesdales' front row rotation.
The three Warwick players will be aiming for selection in a regional Queensland team to play Brisbane in a curtain-raiser to a Queensland Cup game.
"It is a great opportunity for our players to go for Queensland selection,” Old Boys member Mark Sullivan said.
"The Cowboys Old Boys are happy to acknowledge the efforts of the three players to make the Clydesdales team.”
Watson said he was keen to win the carnival this year.
"We could have won last year but had a controversial try scored against us in one game, which cost us the title,” he said.
Watson is team vice-captain. Angus Hearn from the Souths club is skipper.
The Clydesdales team has trained at Pittsworth and will be coached by former Warwick half Tony Morris.
