RUGBY LEAGUE: The Warwick Cowboys will be working to recover from their tough loss to the Warriors during their game against the Dalby Diehards on Sunday.

Head coach Matt Grew said the loss was a learning moment for his side.

"You learn from losses like that more than you learn from the big wins. Hopefully the players take something away from it,” he said.

"We had a strong first half but by the second half we weren't doing as well. This week we will be holding on to the ball better and competing harder.”

Coming into their home game against Dalby on Sunday, Grew will be positioning his team to play defensively.

"Dalby is very good at attack but we are one of the best defensive sides in the league. If we can nullify that attack, we will be fine.”

Assistant coach Tim Doyle said Sunday's game was an opportunity for his side to get back on track.

"We've taken the loss in our stride and the good thing is we have the next game to make amends,” he said.

"We are feeling very positive about the last five weeks of the season.”

Second-rower Josh Cruice is looking forward to his shot at redemption on Sunday.

Cruice was knocked out during the game with the Wattles and, at the very least, he would like to not be injured against Dalby.

He is confident the Cowboys can pull a win after last week's disappointing result.

"I try not to let losses like that get to me. We are still sitting pretty good for the season and there are a few boys who were off last week who will be coming back,” he said.

"I think I have been pretty good this season. You can always improve but I'm fairly happy with how I'm going.”
