It was a long weekend for Southern Downs police and emergency services who responded to multiple incidents, while a number of drivers will face Warwick Magistrates Court for their alleged behaviour behind the wheel. Full details here.

Southern Downs roads saw no mercy at the weekend with police and emergency services called to multiple incidents.

Earlier in the week more than 700 drivers were stopped by Warwick and surrounding police during a traffic operation which caught three alleged drug drivers, two disqualified drivers, and two individuals found in possession of dangerous drugs.

Police also issued an additional 18 infringement notices for traffic offences.

• It was a slow start to the weekend for a 49-year-old Wynnum West woman who will appear in Warwick Magistrates Court next month for allegedly driving while on a suspended licence and driving a vehicle under a number plate confiscation notice.

• Warwick police got a two-for-one deal when they stopped a 28-year-old Boronia Heights woman on Willowvale Rd on Friday, who allegedly returned a positive roadside drug test.

The 28-year-old will appear in Warwick Magistrates Court next month.

Subsequently her 30-year-old male passenger was charged for an alleged stealing matter that occurred in Mount Gravatt last month.

He has been remanded in custody on this and other matters.

• A 28-year-old Warwick woman will be off the road for even longer after she was stopped by police on Kingsford St Saturday morning, revealing her licence was allegedly currently suspended.

She will appear in Warwick Magistrates Court next month.

• Police and emergency services were called to a crash on Pratten and Tooth streets after a vehicle collided with a steer at around 5am.

The driver of the Mitsubishi escaped with no injury, but unfortunately due to the animal’s injuries it was euthanised.

A serious crash at the intersection of the Cunningham Highway and Freestone Rd on Sunday had a woman trapped, with emergency services working quickly to free her.
