Richest and poorest Southern Downs schools for 2023 revealed

Private school enrolment grew by 35 per cent over the past decade

Analysis of financial data from the past five years has revealed the Southern Downs’ schools with the highest income.

According to the newly released MySchool data, Warwick State High School topped the list of school incomes, earning a total of $73.5m for the five-year period.

Coming in with the second highest income was Stanthorpe State High School, with a total income for the five-year period at $60.6m.

Ranked at third on the list is Scots PGC College with a total income of $48.2m, fourth went to Assumption College with a total income of $42.5m.

Primary schools were also factored in with Warwick West State School coming in at fifth, with a total income of $40.54m.

The lowest ranked school for the region according to the data is Maryvale State School, with a total income of $2.2m for the five-year period and coming in as the second lowest income school on the list is Murray’s Bridge State School, earning $2.1m. 

Queensland Association of State School Principals president Pat Murphy said the funding divide “desperately” needed to be addressed to level out the playing field.

“No definitely not,” Mr Murphy said when asked if all Queensland kids had the same educational opportunities.
