Queensland Police block Cunningham Highway at Tregony after truck catches fire

Traffic planning to travel through Cunninghams Gap could see an extra delay after a truck caught fire in the early hours of Thursday. Here’s what we know.

Motorists planning to travel through the Cunninghams Gap could face extra delays as emergency services respond to reports of a truck fire.

It is understood the blaze began sometime before 5am on Thursday, on the Cunningham Highway at Tregony near the Mount Mitchell track.

Queensland Fire Department spokeswoman said when crews arrived at around 6.30am, they found the body of the truck fully engulfed in flames.

No persons have been reported injured, however Queensland Ambulance Service is on standby.

Queensland Police have set up roadblocks around the incident and it’s understood one lane of the highway is now open to traffic.

QFD crews remain on the scene and are continuing to dampen down the truck.

The circumstances around the fire remain unclear.
