THE Salvation Army Warwick Corps was established in 1887 by John Channing Head, and 125 years later two of his grandsons are celebrating the momentous occasion.
Cousins Peter and John Head are proud of their link to the Salvation Army.
"The Salvos are known all over the world," Peter said.
"And it is for all the right reasons."
Neither of them remember much about their grandfather.
John has stayed close to the Warwick area and lives in Elbow Valley.
"He didn't just start them up here," John said.
"He started them up all over the place. We are not exactly sure how many though."
Peter, who lives at Narangba, north of Brisbane, said the Salvation Army was part of his life.
"People are never out of the Salvation Army," he said.
"Once it's in your blood you never really get it out.
"My whole family is involved including my two brothers and sister."
John admitted he was not as involved as Peter but said he did help out with the Red Shield Appeal and other fundraising events.
