A runaway pony who was found lost and alone in the Southern Downs bush is in desperate need for a loving home.

An adorable unnamed shetland pony was found lost in the wilderness at Sugarloaf, near Stanthorpe.

“Nothing is known about him, even his name, except the fact he needs a new loving home,” Southern Downs Regional Council shared on Facebook.

The post quickly picked up traction, racking up almost 100 comments, with many tagging their loved ones as interest in the cute animal grew.

However, there were some negative reactions to the notice, referring to the council’s perceived action to other stray pets in the region.

One commenter wrote “so the council will (sell) a horse that is a stray animal, but yet a dog will be euthanized after so many days”.

If you want to give the adorable pony a new caring home, you can make an offer and purchase him at the Pig and Calf sale at McDougall’s sale yards on June 14.
