A pair accused of holding a young Warwick woman captive for a terrifying hours-long assault in which they allegedly tortured, beat, and raped her have faced court for the first time.

Police claim a man in his 50s went to the alleged victim’s home overnight on Friday and demanded she get into his vehicle, then picked up a woman believed to be his partner on the way to another house in the Warwick CBD.

Warwick Magistrates Court was told the pair, who cannot yet be named for legal reasons, allegedly held the 22-year-old woman and tortured her for hours, including the man beating her legs with a metal bar and the woman holding a large kitchen knife to her throat.

It will be alleged the Gatton man raped the woman both digitally and with his penis, and that the Warwick woman then used a male pitbull dog to rape her while her co-accused filmed it on his phone.

Police allege the pair also forced the woman to call the Warwick CIB and leave a voicemail falsely confessing to being involved in another criminal matter before releasing her.

Officers searched the home where the pair were staying, where they found the Warwick woman with a bracelet and phone believed to have been stolen from the alleged victim.

The Gatton man’s own phone was then searched and police allegedly found the graphic video filmed the night before, which prompted officers to track down the reported victim.

The court was told the 22-year-old was immediately taken to hospital to be treated for significant injuries and was later interviewed by detectives.

Police do not believe the younger woman was known directly by her alleged attackers at this stage.

Both co-accused now face one charge each of bestiality, torture, rape, kidnapping, extortion, assault occasioning bodily harm and robbery while armed in company, recording in breach of privacy, and common assault.

The Gatton man is charged with an additional two counts of rape and the Warwick woman an unrelated charge of possessing drug utensils.

Each of the pair appeared in Warwick Magistrates Court for the first time this week, with only the woman making an application for bail.

Police prosecutor Steve de Lissa described the charges as “the likes I’ve never seen in my 30 years with the police”, saying the woman should be kept in custody to prevent retribution against herself or the alleged victim.

“This is a small town and these are very concerning offences in a town like this,” he said.

Duty lawyer Phillip Crook contended the woman should be released so she continue her mental health plan and live in Warwick with her mother, who supported her from the courtroom gallery.

“If she is not granted bail, she may have issues being on remand with those mental concerns,” he said.

Mr Crook also argued his client’s actions could in some instances be seen more as supporting her co-accused than being a principal offender herself.

The bail application was ultimately denied by magistrate Julian Noud, who said it did not satisfactorily resolve the risk posed to all those involved by the Warwick woman and her alleged victim living in the same town throughout the investigation and court proceedings.

Both the woman and her co-accused will now be remanded in custody until their matters are next mentioned in Warwick Magistrates Court on April 13.
