Southern Downs police are growing concerned with the number of motorists allegedly caught speeding on dangerous roads in the region after the recent fatality on New Year's Eve.
The region continues to be a target for thieves, with a string of alleged crimes in recent months.
See the latest offences that have occurred across the Rose City below.
TRAFFIC OFFENCES
• A 58-year-old Warwick man was allegedly caught driving under the influence of alcohol on Victoria St, after he blew 0.144 during a road side breath test.
The Warwick man is set to appear in Warwick Magistrates Court.
• A 68-year-old Warwick man has been issued with an infringement notice for allegedly failing to give way at an intersection, which subsequently saw his vehicle collide with another.
The incident occurred at the intersection of Grafton and Wantley streets, seeing the 68-year-old taken to Warwick Hospital for assessment.
• Victoria St was a popular spot for traffic offenders last week, with a 26-year-old Legume man allegedly testing positive to a roadside drug test.
The 26-year-old will face Warwick Magistrates Court for driving with a relevant drug present in his system.
• A 42-year-old Burrum Town woman will appear in Warwick Magistrates Court after she allegedly failed a roadside drug saliva test on Alexandra Dr.
• Drug driving was a recurring offence on Friday, seeing a 26-year-old Warwick man stopped for a roadside drug test on Wallace St at around 7.40am.
The 26-year-old allegedly returned a positive result and will later appear in Warwick Magistrates Court for driving with a relevant drug present in his system.
• At around 11.15am on the same day, a 19-year-old Warwick man was subject to a roadside drug test on Pratten St, allegedly returning a positive saliva test.
The 19-year-old will later appear in Warwick Magistrates Court for driving with a relevant drug present in his system.
• A 44-year-old Killarney woman was stopped for a roadside drug test on the New England Highway at Glengallan at around 4.50pm, allegedly testing positive to a test of her saliva.
The 44-year-old will later appear in Warwick Magistrates Court charged with driving while a relevant drug was present in her system.
• On Sunday, a 24-year-old Warwick woman was caught travelling double the speed limit, clocking 142km/h when she was stopped on the Warwick-Killarney Rd at Murray’s Bridge.
The penalty for this offence is a fine of $1653, eight demerit points and a six-month licence suspension.
STEALING OFFENCES
• A kiosk inside Rose City Shoppingworld was targeted by offenders who allegedly gained entry and stole a number of items which included keyrings and bracelets.
Police located some of these items nearby and are continuing their investigation.
• An ongoing investigation into the break and enter of a clubhouse on Horsman Rd has seen the arrest of a 48-year-old man and a 24-year-old man.
A number of items were alleged to have been stolen from the clubhouse, including a ride-on mower.
Police located the mower and other items after conducting a search warrant at an address on Coorey Pl.
The resident, a 48-year-old man was charged with offences including enter premises and receiving stolen property, and has since been remanded in custody.
A 24-year-old man was charged with possession of drugs as a further result of the investigation and will later appear in Warwick Magistrates Court.
