A Warwick woman will soon face court on a string of charges after she was allegedly caught red-handed trying to steal items from a shopping centre customer while flouting a ban from the entire premises.

Police say the victim purchased two sets of hair clippers in Rose City Shoppingworld, then left the boxes on a bench outside the nearby Telstra store while they went inside at about 10.20am Wednesday.

It will be alleged the 32-year-old Warwick woman initially walked past the items before doubling back and picking them up, attempting to make a hasty getaway on foot with the stolen goods.

Warwick police acting officer-in-charge Cameron Slater said the woman was quickly caught and taken to the watch-house to be charged.

“She was (already) banned from the shopping centre, but she was given bail and told to not go back to the shopping centre as part of that,” he said.

Sergeant Slater said it took only hours for the woman to breach her bail order, as she was allegedly caught back at Rose City Shoppingworld at about 1.30pm the same day.

The Warwick woman now faces two charges of trespass and one each of stealing and breaching bail.

She is due to appear in Warwick Magistrates Court on August 1.

It is not the only theft reported this week, with police also investigating a break-in at five storage sheds on a private property on Thornton Rd.

Sergeant Slater said offenders took a number of hand tools and other items, with officers still speaking to victims to ascertain what else was stolen.

Anyone with relevant information is urged to contact Warwick police on 4660 4444 or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
