A Warwick mother-of-five has fronted court after she was busted delivering drugs allegedly for her boyfriend on more than a dozen occasions.

Allora police raided the woman’s Forde Street home at 4pm on August 14 last year, where they uncovered about 1g marijuana and seized her boyfriend’s mobile phone, the Warwick court heard.

Police prosecutor Steve de Lissa said police uncovered 15 text messages linking the 24-year-old to small marijuana supplies worth about $50 each across the Warwick area.

“(Her boyfriend) is doing the negotiations and she is dropping off the marijuana … she’s a party to the supply, she’s actually handing it over,” Sergeant de Lissa said.

“She would drive to Warwick (and) meet the customers in various locations, but did not usually know most of these people.”

Sergeant de Lissa added the mother-of-five fully co-operated with police and did not receive any financial benefit from delivering the drugs.

The woman appeared in the Warwick Magistrates Court with no criminal history.

Defence lawyer Amber Acreman told the court her client’s offending consisted of 10 actual supplies of marijuana and another five acts preparatory to supply.

“She had been introduced to substances by her partner … he’d actually cut his finger off at work and acquired a workplace injury, so finances were extremely tight,” Ms Acreman.

“It certainly appears as though he’s come up with an alternative means to fund his own habit and reduce his own financial pressures.”

Magistrate Julian Noud acknowledged she was merely an alleged “gopher” for her boyfriend but denounced her role in spreading drugs through the community.

“(Drugs) bring great misery to our community, and can inflict misery on a person and their family … those who dabble in drugs and the supply of drugs can expect a punishment as a deterrent.”

The woman pleaded guilty to 15 counts of supplying a dangerous drug and one count each of possessing a dangerous drug and possessing an item connected to an offence.

She was placed on nine months’ probation and no conviction was recorded.

Her boyfriend was also charged and his matters remain before the courts.

She is due to face an additional traffic charge of failing to restrain a child aged under seven in a car in May.
