A young mum has fronted court after police charged her with allegedly stealing more than $95,000 from her employer, Containers for Change.

Detectives from Toowoomba’s Criminal Investigation Branch have charged a young mum, born in Goondiwindi, with fraud, alleging she stole thousands from an employer.

Police allege Shannara Cindy Dyball, 25, fraudulently obtained $95,573.50 from Containers for Change at Torrington Toowoomba, between July 2019 and June 2020.

The young mum was charged with fraud, dishonestly obtaining from another as an employee, an amount between $30,000 and $100,000, on March 6, 2023.

When Mrs Dyball attended court in person on Wednesday morning, April 12, she was represented by McConnell and Saldumbide criminal lawyers.

Director and lawyer Joe McConnell requested a full brief of evidence and asked for it to be listed for a committal mention.

As fraud is considered a serious indictable offence, the matter will need to proceed in a higher court.

Offenders who are convicted of employee fraud between $30,000 and $10,000, can be sentenced to up to 14 years’ imprisonment.

Magistrate Clare Kelly ordered a brief on evidence to be completed by police prosecution on or before May 17.

The committal mention was scheduled for a committal mention on Wednesday, May 31.
