A Stanthorpe man was left with serious arm and spinal injuries after allegedly being bashed with a baseball bat in broad daylight.
Two Stanthorpe men were arrested on Wednesday after a 46-year-old man was allegedly set upon in a targeted attack in Manning St on June 4.
Senior Constable Matt Shield said the man was struck several times with a baseball bat at 4.15pm.
He said there was “no need for community alarm” as police would allege it was a targeted incident involving a number of people.
The injured man was taken to Stanthorpe Hospital before being flown to Toowoomba Hospital for treatment on a broken right arm and spinal fractures sustained in the attack.
He has since been discharged from hospital but Constable Shield said the man was unwilling to make a complaint.
Constable Shield said the two men who allegedly carried out the attack, aged 38 and 39, were charged with affray, as the injured man declined to pursue the matter.
The baseball bat allegedly used in the bashing had been seized.
The alleged offenders have been remanded in police custody until their upcoming appearance in Warwick Magistrates Court.
