Man, 29, killed in highway rollover

A 29-year-old man has been killed after rolling his ute on the Cunningham Highway, west of Warwick with police appealing for witnesses to the crash to come forward.

A 29-year-old man from the Southern Downs has been killed after a crash at Gore, west of Warwick on Monday night.

Police said that at around 5.30pm, a 2010 Mitsubishi Triton was travelling west on the Cunningham Highway at Gore when it left the road and rolled.

The driver and sole occupant of the vehicle, a 29-year-old Applethorpe man, was declared deceased at the scene.

In 2023, 59 lives were lost to fatal crashes in the Lockyer Valley, Darling Downs and South West Queensland regions.

According to the latest data from the Department of Main Roads and Transport 31 per cent of those fatal crashes involved a motorcyclist, while a further 32 per cent of lives lost were young people aged 16-24.

The Forensic Crash Unit is investigating the circumstances of the crash and appealing to anyone who may have witnessed the incident, or may have relevant dashcam footage to come forward.
