A Warwick woman who is awaiting trial over the alleged murder of two-year-old Connor Horan is now set to be sentenced on another string of charges in court.

Lisa Rose Halcrow was not required to appear when her matter was mentioned in Warwick Magistrates Court this week, where she faces one charge each of possessing dangerous drugs, possessing drug utensils, drug driving, contravening a police direction, and permitting another person to drive while unlicensed.

The court heard the 42-year-old is currently in custody while waiting for her trial to begin in the Toowoomba Supreme Court, where she is charged with murdering toddler Connor Horan while the boy was in her care in 2018.

Her trial expected to be listed at one of the remaining sittings this year.

The Warwick court was told this week that Ms Halcrow intended to plead guilty to the minor charges, which were unrelated to those now before higher courts, but would prefer to wait until the more serious matters were finalised before being sentenced.

Magistrate Virginia Sturgess pushed for an alternative course of action, saying the charges had already been hanging around for several years and were unlikely to attract a worse penalty than a fine.

“She’s also got a matter for which she going to be disqualified from driving, and I would have thought she wants to get her disqualification over and done with while she’s not needing to drive,” Ms Sturgess said.

Ms Halcrow’s summary matters were listed for sentence in Warwick Magistrates Court on August 1.

She will be required to appear via videolink.
