Police are investigating after a pair were allegedly busted using an empty unit in the town’s CBD as their own drug den and thieves ransacked a main street business within just over 48 hours.

A pair of Warwick residents who police say turned a vacant unit in the town’s CBD into their personal drug den were involved in just one of the crimes that took place over the weekend.

Officers were called to a Grafton St unit at about 1am Saturday after a neighbour reported lights and noise coming from the unoccupied property.

Warwick police acting officer-in-charge Sergeant Cameron Slater said a 23-year-old woman and 32-year-old man were busted inside the unit with a bong packed with marijuana.

Sergeant Slater said the “drug party” was still under investigation and no charges had yet been laid.

It was almost exactly 24 hours later that a thief targeted a Palmerin St grocer, tipping off the shop owner when they triggered the electronic alarm by forcing their way in through the back door.

Police say the burglar rummaged through the store and pocketed several items before fleeing the scene.

Investigations are ongoing.

Several Warwick residents are also due to face court in coming weeks on drink or drug driving charges, after officers nabbed four motorists in just over 48 hours.

A 38-year-old Dalby man and 28-year-old Warwick man were allegedly busted behind the wheel with drugs in their system in separate incidents on Friday, with each due to appear in Warwick Magistrates Court in July.

Another alleged drug driver was busted on Parker St at about 1pm Saturday. The 45-year-old Sunnybank Hills man will also front court next month.

A random breath test has earned a 44-year-old Warwick man a court date, after he allegedly recorded a blood alcohol concentration of 0.107 while driving on Stern St.

He is due to appear in Warwick Magistrates Court on June 13.

Anyone with relevant information is urged to contact Warwick Police on 46604444 or Crime Stoppers on 1800333000.
